In 1990, Moi coordinated the first Huaorani National Assembly to unite his people against oil companies that want to drill in Huaorani territory. He has even travelled to New York and Washington, DC to appeal his cause. As a child, Moi began his shamanic initiation with his grandfather Mengatohue, and continued with the extremely difficult discipline until quitting three years ago.
